Check smoke alarm functionality
Keep fire extinguisher accessible
Ensure knife storage is safe
Keep flammable items away from heat sources
Secure rugs/mats to prevent slipping
Check that pot handles don’t extend beyond counter edge

Food Hygiene

Set up separate cutting boards for raw meat and other foods
Check refrigerator temperature (1-4°C/34-40°F)
Check freezer temperature (-18°C/0°F or below)
Set up proper food storage containers
Create system for labeling leftovers with dates
Establish hand-washing station with soap

Organize kitchen into functional zones:
Preparation zone

Group similar items together
